How To Get Rid Of Sebaceous Cysts At Home

You have ascertained correctly that there is no medication that you can take for a cyst. This is because of the structure of a cyst that is a hardened piece of tissue with an empty inside or sometimes fluid inside. The reasons for some cysts appearing are completely mysterious, though it is theorized that an inflammation that occurred near the area of the cyst is sometimes the cause. Your cyst specifically could be a sebaceous cyst formation. If it is indeed this, then you might be able to get rid of it by a simple treatment

Treatment

Sebaceous cysts occur at any part of the body where there is a lot sebum production. Sebum is an oily substance that is created by the sebaceous glands in the skin, to protect it from drying out. The sebaceous glands excrete sebum from the pores of the skin. Sebum’s chemical make up consists of triglycerides and fatty acids and therefore the oil-like consistency. When a sebaceous cyst forms, this oil accumulates inside the cyst and forms a solid mass. This is relatively harmless, but if it is filled with bacteria then it will form an abscess. The way to deal with a sebaceous cyst is to drain it out. This involves puncturing the cyst and draining the liquids within it. Another technique is to lance the cyst if it is small, getting rid of the whole structure. Usually, these are quite effective techniques and a cyst that is properly removed will not return.

Sebaceous cysts are one of the few cysts that can also be treated at home. Since a sebaceous cyst is a solidified mass of sebum, heating up the cyst would melt down the sebum and turn it into liquid again. The theory is that once the sebum is liquid again, applying some pressure would diffuse the liquid back into the blood stream and rectify the problem. To do this, to your cyst, apply a hot towel daily on the area with a moderate amount of pressure. Over the period of a week of doing this, you might notice the cyst starts to reduce in size. At this point, you should use even hotter towels and a lot more pressure. After it totally recedes, keep repeating the treatment for a week. The tissue that the sebum was enclosed in should also dissolve away into the blood over time. Never try to aspirate a cyst yourself as you would just cause in infection.
