By Patricia | February 25, 2010

If you are suffering from gas and stomach cramps, it is highly possible that you are also suffering from chronic indigestion as well. The two symptoms you have described are those of deep seated indigestion. If this is a constant affair, then you need to take steps to remedy it on a long term basis. While there are several remedies you can employ for temporary relief, you would be better off taking long term care so that this does not keep happening repeatedly. To start with, you should try and detoxify your system completely before you begin trying any sort of remedial measures. Once your system is detoxified, you will find it simpler to adopt remedial measures for the occasional bout of gas or indigestion. Stay on fresh fruits and water only for a whole day. The next day, you can add fresh vegetables to this diet as well. On the third day, you can start slowly introducing food grains to your diet again. By this time, you will have cleansed out your system totally and completely. Remember to always have plenty of fluids, as this is extremely important for you not to get dehydrated. You may also experience some mild headaches while fasting in this fashion. This, however, would be due to the absence of pure carbohydrates in your diet. The body is used to consuming a certain amount of carbohydrates daily, and when it does not get this, it will react by giving headaches. Please try as much as possible to ignore these.

Remedies For Stomach Cramps And Gas

Once you have cleared up your system of all these problems, see if you are still suffering from gas and cramps. If so, then you can start adopting home remedies to help you out. Eat a few mint leaves after each meal to help alleviate the worst of the gas and indigestion symptoms. For cramps, you can drink chilled and diluted milk for a soothing effect. Add plenty of water and rock salt to your diet. These will help to fight off the worst of the cramping. If you are having irregular bowel movements, you can also take a tablespoon of psyllium husk each night with a glass of hot milk. This will cleanse out your system in the morning. On the whole, try to limit your intake of fried, leftover and processed food. Reheated food will always keep you in poor health in the long run.
