Itching of the eyes is a common ailment these days on account of the ever-increasing pollution and the constant staring at screens (laptops, TV, Video gaming devices, and Mobile).
The major causes of Itching of eyes accompanied by sneezing are as follows:
- Seasonal Allergies: Allergies are generally caused by foreign particles like dust, pollen, and other allergens. Seasonal allergies are characterized by dryness or itching in the eyes, sneezing, headaches, and sometimes, fever. Allergies are the consequence of the faulty functioning of the immune system.
- Common Cold: Common cold is a communicable affliction, primarily caused by micro-organisms, particularly virus and bacteria. Common cold can infect people of all age groups and infections can occur round the year.

- Apply cool compresses to relieve the itching sensation.
- Apply a poultice made of raw grated apples.
- Using cucumber juice, rose water, or mouth wash is a good remedy to relieve itching in the eyes.
- Applying castor oil is highly recommended in case of allergies, for a soothing effect.
- The application of a liquid distilled from meadowsweet is said to relieve irritation in the eyes.
- The application of mashed almond leaves near the extremities of your eyes will reduce the itching sensation.
- Rubbing mashed papaya seeds on your eyes lids and extremities of your eyes is recommended.
- Consuming foods rich in Vitamin C, including citrus foods, will definitely help in reducing the effect of allergens.
- Carrot juice and beet juice are effective in curing seasonal allergies.
- One or two bananas a day will help reduce the effect of allergens.
- Garlic soup is effective in curing common cold and thereby reducing sneezing if the ailment is caused due to a common cold.
- Water boiled in ginger can be used as an eyewash.
- A paste of roots of bitter gourd roots mixed with honey should be consumed on a daily basis every night. The intake of this mixture will reduce the intensity of any allergy and will also cure common cold.
- Consuming half a teaspoon of turmeric in warm milk helps to reduce the symptoms of these ailments.
- A balanced diet is advised for the proper functioning of the immune system.
