Getting Fair Skin With Turmeric

Getting fair skin that you want requires that you also consider a few other things first. Skin color or complexion is a product of a number of factors, like your racial lineage, your exposure to the sun, and your hormonal situation. Hormones are the least controllable factor in this mix. Some studies have revealed that the hormone androgen affects the degree of pigmentation in your skin by altering the amount of melanin in your body. Melanin is the active skin pigment in nature and studies reveal that since this hormone is in higher quantities in men than in women, it explains the characteristic darker skin in men than in women.

Your racial lineage also plays a factor because the skin you were born with and the amount of melanin you had to begin with is the baseline for you to work with. This concept bases in evolutionary fact as well. People who can trace their racial lineage to the tropics tend to be darker. This is because it is in these areas that the sun’s ultraviolet radiation is at its peak. Melanin’s primary role in the human skin is to block this radiation and stop cellular damage caused by it – a natural sun block. Therefore, people from the tropics are born with high melanin content. Beyond these two limiting factors, exposure to the sun is the final piece in this puzzle. A logical conclusion to draw is that the more you expose yourself to the sun, the darker you will be. Some forms of a suntan are in fact permanent because of exposure to a specific band of ultraviolet radiation that causes a slow, permanent tan.

Having stated the mechanisms at work, let us move on to how you can work on your skin. The first task is to bleach your skin. There are many skin whitening products that you can use but a vegetable home remedy is also effective. Vitamin C is the main ingredient to focus on because it can bleach. Onions are good source for vitamin C so dice an onion finely and squeeze the juices out it. Mix this solution with some lemon juice and apply to your skin every day before going to bed. The next step is an exfoliation regimen. Again, any off the shelf product will do or you can apply lemon juice to your face and scrub it with some sugar. Finish this off with a milk cream and turmeric face pack for further benefits.
