What Remedies Can I Use For High Fever Symptoms?

A fever that is not showing any signs of improvement for over 3 days needs to be checked by a health care provider immediately. Fever is actually an indication of an illness and maybe one of the symptoms of a disease, rather than being an illness in itself. The rise in body temperature indicates that the body is fighting against toxins and harmful pathogens in the body, but a prolonged high fever for more than three days is a cause of worry. Please consult with your medical practitioner about the reason for the rise in temperature, in case you are also experiencing other associated symptoms such as cold and flu.

For fevers that hover around 102 degrees Fahrenheit (38.9 degrees Celsius), and not exceeding past that number, take plenty of rest and keep drinking warm soothing fluids all day long. Warm water must be preferably sipped throughout the day. Wear clean and comfortable clothes and do not bundle yourself under heaps of thick clothing or heavy blankets. See that the room is maintained at a cool yet comfortable temperature. If possible, try bathing or sponging in lukewarm water. Unless the doctor recommends, medications are not generally needed for fevers hovering around temperatures 100 degree Fahrenheit, however most medical providers usually recommend medications for symptomatic relief.

Fresh fruit juices, soups, broths and wholesome vegetable juices are recommended as diet foods during low-grade fevers. As the body is unable to digest heavy foods, juices that are high in vitamins and essential minerals, can help the body in boosting its antioxidant levels and supplying nutrition to the body. Some important liquids to have during this period include, beetroot juice, carrot juice, tomato juice, etc. and soups that are low in sodium. Warm herbal teas such as Linden teas also help in providing relief from the nauseous feeling if prevalent, and can help in inducing sweats during the fever. Herbal teas made from Willow bark are also believed to serve as a natural medication against fever as the bark is rich in salicylates, which closely mimic aspirin-related compounds. This herbal tea can be consumed in small quantities during the day.

Yet another old time fever natural remedy is tea made from Black elder. These teas can be had if you do not have any other pre-existing condition causing the fever. Hence it’s best to consult with a doctor about the use of herbal remedies especially in this case, since you are unsure about the reasons causing the fever.
